With the rainy weather that we had over our 3 day weekend, Danny and I had a DIY itch. Since we couldn't spend time outside on our backyard, we turned to the inside...
Monday we stopped at Home Depot and picked up a few supplies ($75 TOTAL). I painted the brass fireplace "Satin Black". Danny painted the ceiling in the hall, while I painted the baseboards. All the while, my mom prepped the cabinets in our kitchen for our next project....
BEFORE - Our cabinets were a simulated natural wood color...they aren't the highest quality and the finish was coming off in several places.
DURING - The end of night one we had all cabinets washed, and 1/4 of the cabinets primed and painted... (that is my mom doing dishes in this picture...she is always cleaning / serving...crazy woman)
AFTER - Wednesday evening...1 primer coat and 2-3 coats of finish paint later...TA DA! My mom was an invaluable help in this project...we did not anticipate having this project done nearly as quick.
The next step in our kitchen face lift is locating the perfect glass tile back splash. Of course Danny (the Lighting KING) wants to put lights under the cabinets. We will also paint the walls a darker, richer color (we are leaning towards a grayish blueish). We are also going to (EVENTUALLY) get hardware.
Now that the sun is expected to be coming out, prepare for some posts on gardening!
