Yes. We've done it. There's no turning back now. The bed has been converted. Oh, and Christian? He has been enjoying climbing in and out and in and out of bed. During naps...during playtime, and occasionally before mom and dad get up in the morning.
Day 1: Christian slept GREAT in his big boy bed. He only got up once, and I put him back in bed. I checked in on him before I went to bed and he was asleep...on the floor by his rocking chair. After returning him to bed, he didn't move the rest of the night. I thought this was going to be an EASY PEASY transition.
Day 2: I thought wrong. Nap times were horrible...he played most of the time he was supposed to sleep. Bedtime was tricky. He fussed and was out of bed a few times, but I thought it was over by the time I went to bed. Then 3am came around. I was up in his room 6 times (between him falling off the bed and playing) before I decided to camp out with him. Yes, I slept in his crib / big boy bed with him....until my limbs fell asleep. Then I slept the rest of the night/morning on the floor. OY.
Day 3: Naps still horrible. Bedtime a bit better. I was up only a few times with him after he fell out of bed.
Day 4: Christian woke up before us...pulled all of his diapers out of the cabinet and "blew his nose" on every single wipe in the full wipey box. The one nap he took required Danny sitting in Christian's room (after having put up his truck and books), and continually putting Christian back in bed until his will was exhausted. It took 45 mins. So far, so good on bedtime, but the night is still young.
I know you might think I'm crazy to subject myself to this so early. My plan is to slowly transition Christian...from crib to bed...from bed to new bedroom...from new bedroom to having a new sibling. That is my plan anyway. I'll fill you in on how it turns out. ;-)
