Gopher BE GONE!
Our Mondays are like some of your Saturdays - the day both hubby and wifey are home to get things done. Danny and I took advantage of the weather and headed to home depot. Our plan - to turn the side of the house (where my "Prayer Garden" will eventually be) into a green oasis and vegetable garden. With the help of Danny's parents and lots of brawn and might from Danny, the ground was ready to plant. I planted two tomato plants, 3 peppers, 1 cucumber, 1 basil, 1 strawberry, 6 snap peas, a row of carrots (from seeds), a row of lettuce (from seeds) and cilantro (from seeds). If all works out well, I'll be able to make a salad and salsa from my own garden!
While we worked, we found evidence of a gopher on the other side of the house. (A collective ::gasp:: is appropriate here.) Danny's mom told stories of gophers getting her vegetables, and even took down an entire TREE. That was IT for me. Danny was already one step ahead of me at Home Depot, getting a gasser.
He gassed that guy half a dozen times, and wouldn't you know it, the sucker lived! In fact, he kept popping out to stick out his tongue at Danny and say "neener neener neener!" However, the gopher's victory dance was cut short. Danny got him (I'll spare you the details). I've never been so turned on. (wink wink)
And so, for now, my newly planted garden, and our other plants are safe from the threat of gophers for another day. Let this serve as a warning to all you other pests and rodents that want my veges...back away slowly and no one will get hurt.
