Happy Mother's Day, Mommas!

"Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs in my field, since the payment is pure love." - Mildred B. Vermont

Some of you went overdue in pregnancy, some pushed for 96 hours of hard labor before your epidural. Some were on bed rest for a year before the baby(ies) came. Some of you went through intense emotional stress waiting for your perfect baby to adopt into your family. Some of you are new mommas, still grappling with the responsibility and sleeplessness of motherhood. Some of you are multiple mommas...either at the same time or over a long stretch of time. Some of you are mommas twice removed (as my mom says - Grandmas), who have already let go of your children to be blessed x2 with grandbabies. No matter who you are, no matter where you are in the school of motherhood, you all deserve to be treated to a special day.

After all, who else could wake up every hour to cries, change a poop diaper and feed a baby all without opening her eyes? Who else could grocery shop with a toddler wanting to do anything BUT sit in a shopping cart? Who else could smile while others give her "tips" on how to best deal with whatever stage she is in with her kiddo? Who else knows the difference between pain / hunger / heartbroken cries? Who else could laugh when most organization loving single woman would cry, after walking into the mess that was made by her little darling(s).

You all are beautiful, and God uses you to reflect his "soft side" to your children. The tears erupt from within the day your child is born seem to flow freely until your dying day. Motherhood changes you, but I think we can all agree it is for the better. What a gift God has given us, and what a gift God has given our children through us.

And now, I must attend to a little boy yelling "Momma! Momma!" from his thrashed bedroom. Have a blessed day, mommas!
