Airplane-Boat

I usually buy Christian's diapers at Costco to save $$. Every time we finish a box I let Christian play with it for a bit before I toss it. This time, however, I decided to get creative...

BEFORE - a normal diaper box
After I put Christian to bed last night I took a pair of scissors to the box to create a "toy". I then took the box outside for a quick coat of spray paint. (IMPORTANT NOTE: I wore a mask, spray painted outside in the wind and stayed upwind. Don't worry...I'm being a careful prego!!!!) The outside I painted white, and the inside black. I left the box outside to dry overnight.

AFTER - I named the airplane "Banshee Boy"

I finished decorating the box this morning while Christian ate breakfast. When I put it on the floor and he was out of his high chair, he ran over to it and exclaimed "COOL!" Such a comment warmed my heart. And then he called it a "boat". Yup...I guess to him my airplane creation looks like a boat. ::SIGH:: Well...I can see how it would. I keep calling it airplane for now, until I have the energy to transform it into a boat for him. The good news is that he does like it and plays with it. In fact, tonight, after I put Christian to bed, I noticed his light on. I opened the door to find him sitting in the airplane-boat.

Sidenote: I am currently in a nesting mode. I've washed the outside of all of our windows, the inside of half of them, and have been working on a painting project for the nursery. All on top of laundry and deep cleaning. All of these nesting aspects will be revisited in another post soon. :-)
