Bakin' with the Banshee

This week Christian and I decided that we would make a special treat for Danny, who has been hard at work. 

Christian (aka "Banshee") wanted to wear an apron, so I got creative with the one that I let him wear (I wore the ruffles).  Yep, that is a binder clip holding the neck part of the apron.  It went to floor when all was said and done, but he LOVED it.  (Sidenote: that little container next to his left hand is filled with the cars, toy lizard and keychain that he cannot live without...my OCD boy.) 

It was very important for me to have "Mise en place" (everything in its place) before baking with my boy.  That way he could just pour things in, and the measuring / time consuming parts were minimal.  He is an instant gratification kinda guy.  Hm...perhaps it is in his genes...

I digress.  After putting everything in the bowl, I gave it a quick moistening stir (to keep the flour, etc. from bombing my flour) and then let Christian stir.  I had to take the spoon away when he started to be tempted....

Finally Christian got to his favorite part of baking with momma...cleaning the spoon!  I can't tell if he liked it much, can you?

Once the brownies were done, I sent little brownie face into Danny's office to tell him that the brownies were ready.  He ran in, looked up with a big, messy grin and said, "Daddy!  I made browns!  They are ready!" 

He certainly has stolen our hearts.  We love our banshee boy.
