For the past few years, my dearest husband has made it a tradition to buy me Williams Sonoma Peppermint Bark for Christmas. I've done taste tests with the Trader Joe's version, and a few others, but NONE compare. I could eat an entire tin in a day if I let myself (though I might get a smidge of a tummy ache). It is THE BEST BARK EVER. However, it isn't in the budget this year (unless we can get it on after-Christmas clearance sales like we did last year).
My favorite sweet of all time. |
This year I decided to make a similar version as the Williams Sonoma bark, though obviously I can't afford the best of the best ingredients. The final product ended up quiet yummy, nonetheless.
My version |
(Note: If you make this, use the best quality ingredients you can afford. It makes a world of difference.) I used Ghiradelli white chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips (both purchased on sale a month ago) and candy canes. After melting down the white chocolate, I spread it out on a piece of parchment paper and let it cool. I then added the dark chocolate layer, finishing with one last white chocolate layer and sprinkling broken candy canes on top. Once the bark was cool, I broke it into pieces.
It's no Williams Sonoma bark, but it will do. ;-)
