Artistic Inspirations

Have you ever attempted an artistic endeavor, only to find out that it was much more difficult than you initially thought it to be? No matter what it is, once I have some experience in an art I appreciate artists all the more.

I've always been fascinated with blown glass, and it is a lifelong goal of mine to learn the art. When I was in college, they offered a class in it, but it was always during my full time work schedule, so I couldn't ever swing it. When I go to Vegas, I never fail to go to the Bellagio and stand in awe beneath the Chihuly canopy of thousands of hand blown glass flowers.

Artists like Dale Chihuly are purely brilliant to me. I'm fascinated by those who can start with such raw ingredients such as sand, clay, paint, charcoal or simply a piano and a piece of paper, and create a masterpiece. Such a thought always causes me draw my attention to the heavens.

At risk of over-simplifying the complex, omnipotent Creator of our Universe, I often see Him as the Ultimate artist. After all, as a Christian I believe He created all from nothing. With simple strokes of His brush, He manages to paint a breathtaking sunrise daily, with colors from a heavenly palate. All living things exist because of Him. Considering the number of people there are on this planet, all with (most of the time) two eyes, one nose and one mouth, how amazing is it that no two people are exactly the same! Yes, Indeed, He is the ultimate Artist.

I would like to encourage you today to learn a new art, or at the very least appreciate the artistic beauty that might be beheld today. You won't be disappointed.
