My grandparents came out and spent the evening and night with us last night. It was a blessing to have them in town, and Christian experienced a first with their help...he clapped for the first time! We've been working on that, so we were thrilled.
Today I was in Christian's room, pulling clothes out of his closet while he played. He was taking toys out of his toybox one minute, throwing them across the room, and the next minute the lid was on his hand. It wasn't just smooshed fingers...his right hand was in the hinge area of the toybox, where the wood is the sharpest, while his left hand was pushing down the lid. Of course he cried, and blood was everywhere...it looked like a crime scene. I rushed him into the bathroom and rinsed off his fingers, which were gushing blood, and could see fatty tissue. I grabbed a washcloth, put pressure on his wound, and prepared to go to the Urgent Care. I was trying to figure out how I was going to keep pressure on the owie while I drove my car (at that time I wasn't as creative as I am right now...I can think of lots of ways to do this now) when Danny walked in the door. At that time Christian had stopped crying, and when I showed Danny his finger the blood had clotted. After a quick talk with my mom, we ran to Rite Aid to pick up liquid bandages and butterfly bandages...both of which we used immediately (even though it bled for a few more hours). We then ran a few errands with our little warrior before heading home. OH BOY, one more gray hair is somewhere in my crazy mass of curls.
I ran out to run more errands, dropping in on the Hekman's to bring a birthday cake to Jess. (I'll upload pics in a week). After coming home we ordered a pizza, got the kiddo to bed, and packed up the car. We are finally ready to go!
We are leaving bright and early for our little family vacation...the first one since Christian was born. Blessings to you all this week!
