We had a garage sale yesterday (Saturday) that was some time in the making. With lots of advertising, signage, organizing, elbow grease and late nights/early mornings, it did end up being a success. WOO HOO!
I haven't had a garage sale since I've been an adult, since I've always lived in apartments. It ended up being a blast! I had so much fun meeting interesting people, haggling and being my salesperson self. We had coffee and donuts for our customers, which helped slow them down enough (and methinks they felt guilty for taking coffee/donuts without purchasing something) and that alone ended up being a GREAT sales tool!
Some of the first things we sold we were talking about throwing away. Garage sales are THE BEST. The only things left I took to the Salvation Army and then did a little shopping at the Salvation Army too. :-)
Needless to say that one person's trash is another person's treasure...thank goodness for THAT!
