Dr. Seuss Room Part 2

Christian's room is complete. My mom made pillows, I bought a Cat in the Hat at Kohl's, and I framed the artwork for the walls. Below is the finished product.

Here is my darling boy. I could hardly get a picture without him jumping in front the camera and laughing. Too cute.

Since the last post, I moved the books and organizing cubes into the bookcase, hung up a dry erase / magnet board and got the Dr. Seuss Alphabet poster online. (I recycled the frame for that poster by spray painting an old frame from his nursery. I also used the back of the matting....another "green" move). ;-)

All four frames above Christian's bed were purchased at IKEA for $3 each. I painted them all white with paint we already had. Danny scanned Dr. Seuss books from our library, and printed them for me. We already had the matting in the closet. Total cost of the wall art above his bed: $12. My mom made the pillow cases that match perfectly with the bedspread she made. Total cost of bedding: FREE (thanks to one heck of an amazing mom). And finally, the Cat in the Hat on Christian's bed: $5 donation to a children's charity at Kohl's.

I am so thrilled with the way this room has come together. It is better than I envisioned.  I even like it more than the Pottery Barn inspiration that I dove off from. Christian seems to like it too, and dumps everything from the bookshelf on a daily basis.

Oh, for the record (in case you were wondering), Christian is doing so much better sleeping in his big boy bed since he moved into his new room. In fact, last night, he didn't peep once. What a blessing!!!
