Resolution Word - Invest

My resolution word of the year is "invest". Since choosing that word, I've thought quite a bit about what it means.

An investment is an action that needs to be done regularly, if not daily. Brushing and flossing are investments, for an example. If you take a few minutes each day to do those things, then you will be rewarded later with a healthy and pain-free smile. Working out is an investment. Skin care is an investment. Child care is an investment. Marriage is an investment. Every day one must stop all else and allow what seem like small and insignificant moments of attention to be focused solely on whatever is being invested in. It may not seem like much at the time (especially when you are tired and don't see results immediately), but that is the beauty of an investment. It doesn't require a dramatic change, a ton of money, a ton of time, etc. It requires discipline and daily attention.

I hope that my goal of investing this year is one that pays off for me. I am trying to invest in my relationship with God, my husband, my children, my extended family and my friends. I am going to invest in myself as well - taking care of myself daily. I am also going to invest more in my Mary Kay business, which I really am excited about doing.

Great results don't happen overnight, but they do happen.
