I love cinnamon rolls. They are one of my favorite parts of special mornings. They remind me of my favorite people and times of year. They smell divine, make for a beautiful presentation and make houseguests smile in the morning.
So without further adieu, here's the recipe:
To your trusty breadmaker, add everything in the following order:
1 egg plus warm water to equal 1 cup
1/4 cup oil
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
Put breadmaker on the DOUGH setting and go about life for a little while. Once ready, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a 12x18 inch rectangle. Spread with 1/3 cup softened butter. Sprinkle with a mixture of 1/3 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon. Roll up tightly jelly-roll style, starting with longest side and cut into one inch slices.
Please in a greased baking pan and let stand in warm place for 1 hour or double in size*. (*If you are making ahead, cover and place in the fridge at this point and in the morning allow to rise. I've also aided the rise by putting them in the microwave on a low setting for 10 minutes.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Mix together 1 cup powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons milk and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla and spread evenly over rolls.
Enjoy!!
