A Conversation with a Preschooler

Hubby and I have given Christian a challenge in preschool: learn a new name / make a new friend every day.  I've noticed a trend...they have all been girls.  When I asked him about this today, he told me that he just likes girls.

As Danny asked Christian about his name assignment today, he asked about one of Christian's first friends, Bella.  (Christian had told me that Bella isn't nice and doesn't want him around.)

This is the conversation that ensued:

Christian: "Bella doesn't like me because she doesn't want to kiss me."

Danny: "You are trying to kiss her?"

Me: "Is THAT why you only make friends with girls?"

Christian: "Yes.  I want them to kiss me.  That's why they are my friends."

Danny: "You only kiss mommy and daddy.  The other little girls only kiss their mommy and daddy.  You can't be friends with girls just to get kisses."

Christian: "I don't think so, dad."

Oh boy, do we have our work cut out for us!
